Irvine, CA -- (August 4, 2014) – Cylance, the first math-based threat detection and prevention company, today announced the appointment of Jon Miller to the executive team as vice president of strategy. With more than a decade of information security experience, Miller comes directly from Accuvant, with significant industry recognition as a technical leader at IBM Security and Internet Security Systems.
“Jon is widely recognized as a stalwart in advanced threat detection and prevention, and we are thrilled to welcome him on board,” said Stuart McClure, CEO of Cylance. “Adding Jon extends the deep security experience obtained from his success building and running the largest security research team at Accuvant LABS, and his insights will prove instrumental in increasing our market penetration.”
Miller will play a key role in accelerating Cylance’s go-to-market efforts for its enterprise products, CylancePROTECT and CylanceV. His responsibilities include driving innovation around Cylance’s game-changing product features, expanding distribution channels and advancing market education.
“The technology that Cylance is bringing to market is clearly the leader in next generation endpoint security,” said Miller. “Spending years evaluating technology for my customers at Accuvant made it easy to see that CylancePROTECT is evolutionary, addressing the existing paradigm of antivirus and delivering so much more with regards to advanced threat detection, anti-exploitation and limiting the installation of potentially unwanted programs across the corporate enterprise. I’m honored that the existing Cylance executive team would welcome me to their ranks, and I look forward to being part of the next progression of information security.”
As vice president of research and development at Accuvant, a leading provider of information security services and solutions, Miller led the company’s research team and several other divisions, including applied research, product evaluation, malware and incident response, development and federal cyber operations. He served an impressive array of enterprise-class organizations, including more than half of the companies listed on the Fortune 500. Prior to Accuvant, Jon spent nearly five years as a senior consultant and manager on IBM Internet Security System's X-Force Penetration Testing Team.
Cylance is a fundamentally new approach of applying math and machine learning to detect and stop the execution of malware, APTs and advanced cyberthreats. The technology continually evolves, learning how to detect new and morphing threats through an algorithmic process much like the human brain. The next generation endpoint CylancePROTECT and network CylanceV product lines detect and block the execution of both advanced and mundane threats in real time, without the need for a cloud connection or constant DAT updates, which miss threats and burden resources.
About Cylance® Inc.
Cylance is the only company to offer a preventive cybersecurity solution that stops advanced threats and malware at the most vulnerable point: the endpoint. Applying a revolutionary artificial intelligence approach, the Cylance endpoint security solution, CylancePROTECT®, analyzes the DNA of code prior to its execution on the endpoint to find and prevent threats others can’t, while using a fraction of the system resources associated with endpoint antivirus and detect and respond solutions that are deployed in enterprises today.
