IRVINE, CALIFORNIA, August 24, 2016 - Cylance®, the American company that is revolutionizing cybersecurity through the use of artificial intelligence (AI)to proactively prevent advanced persistent threats and malware at the most vulnerable point: the endpoint., has expanded its international operations with the opening of an office in Japan. Vice President of Japan Sales Morihiro Kinjo will lead a team of security industry veterans, who will support Japanese customers as well as OEM and channel sales partners from an office in Tokyo.
"We see the sophistication of Japanese executives and their security teams as the reason behind the high demand for our technology in this promising and growing market," said Stuart McClure, president and CEO at Cylance. "Leveraging the artificial intelligence engine in CylancePROTECT® as well as the human intelligence of our Japanese partners and customers, we can prevent nearly all cyber attacks from achieving their goals."
Through the application of algorithmic science and machine learning, the company's flagship product CylancePROTECT is uniquely able to identify and prevent zero-days and other forms of advanced and targeted attacks currently impacting businesses and government agencies worldwide, including Japan, thereby eliminating the need for individual security teams to analyze and develop expertise in defending against each new cyberattack. CylancePROTECT is actively protecting countless potential attack victims with an independent conviction engine that operates on network endpoints, including those connected to air-gapped networks.
Cylance currently protects millions of endpoints across more than 1,000 large enterprise customers, significantly reducing the number of security events that impact network performance, employee productivity and brand reputation. In just a few short years, the company has achieved a position of leadership in the security industry, recently raising $100 million in Series D funding on the heels of 1100% year-over-year customer billings growth since June 2015. In 2016 alone, Cylance has been named to the CNBC Disruptor 50 list, named in the top 100 of the Inc. 5000 fastest-growing American companies, and was called an endpoint security "visionary" by Gartner.
Morihiro Kinjo will lead Cylance operations in Japan. Bringing over 20 years of experience in the security technology industry to his position, Mr. Kinjo previously served as Vice President of Japan Sales for Palo Alto Networks for 5 years; Vice President of Japan Sales for Packeteer, which was acquired by Blue Coat Systems; Managing Director of North Asia for EBT; and Country Manager for SynOptics Communications.
"I am fully convinced that AI-based approach to endpoint security is the only effective cyber defense for Japanese businesses," said Morihiro Kinjo. "I am very happy that we can deliver a genuine solution to the Japanese market along with our highly skilled partners, MOTEX, Inc. and Hitachi Systems, Ltd."
Earlier this year, Cylance announced an original equipment manufacturing (OEM) agreement with MOTEX to integrate MOTEX LanScope, a leading endpoint systems management solution with CylancePROTECT. Cylance has also signed a distributor agreement with Hitachi Systems, Ltd., a prominent provider of value-driven services throughout the IT life cycle from systems planning to systems integration, operation and maintenance.
At the core of Cylance's unprecedented malware identification capability is a revolutionary machine-learning research platform that harnesses the power of algorithmic science and artificial intelligence. It analyzes and classifies hundreds of thousands of characteristics per file, breaking them down to study their "DNA" in order to discern whether an object is “good” or "bad" in real time.
About Cylance® Inc.
Cylance is the only company to offer a preventive cybersecurity solution that stops advanced threats and malware at the most vulnerable point: the endpoint. Applying a revolutionary artificial intelligence approach, the Cylance endpoint security solution, CylancePROTECT®, analyzes the DNA of code prior to its execution on the endpoint to find and prevent threats others can’t, while using a fraction of the system resources associated with endpoint antivirus and detect and respond solutions that are deployed in enterprises today.
